Anamnesis 230219 Released

Previous savegames are not compatible.

There. I've been using time I probably should have used for other things, most notably sleep, but this release had become such a thorn on my side for such a long time that it feels great to finally get it out.

Fair warning though; The peculiarities would have been very time-consuming to properly test in-game and balance one by one so you should consider this as a test release of sorts. Some might be bugged, some might behave in funky ways or be completely broken. As always, just let me know if anything feels weird and I'll look into it.

Now let me just go over the last posts to actually remember what's been changed for the log real quick...

Change Log:

  • Basic Player Character Peculiarities: Player characters will now get 3 out of the 30 initial peculiarities at random at the start of each game, ranging from common idiosyncrasies to professional skills and rare supernatural curses. These can be infinitely rerolled and give a set of 12 context-sensitive actions each, allowing for a variety of optional ways in which to interact with the world and engage in roleplay. Their selection will be heavily influenced, but not limited by the character's personality (Philanthropist, etc) and players will get a chance to replace one after each cycle to fine-tune and develop their character.
  • You won't be able to acquire boring trades and abilities in territories anymore as they've been replaced with the far more expanded and fun peculiarities.
  • Unit events and such are apparently more consistent now. Not sure what I did back then to achieve that but they do feel more consistent than I seem to remember them.
  • It seems like I did something about technological spread to make it more consistent too.
  • 4 new units.
  • 1 new social context.
  • Some kind of bug fixes and balancing stuff I remember somebody mentioning somewhere? The blog says something about fixing empty actions which kind of rings a bell, but I'm sure there was more to it.
