Somehow, that new goal I mentioned in the last post doesn't quite feel right, so it's very likely that I'll shelve it and leave it for another release.
The idea just doesn't click, all the pieces are there, it sounds good in theory, but I can't hear that satisfying sound a new feature makes when it fits well with the rest of the game, so to speak.
This is actually getting more common and I've already had plenty of headaches with a pretty similar situation involving renascents before the previous release, so I guess it's something that will keep happening more often as more features are added to the game. Then again I might just be getting dumber, can't fully discard that either.
Meanwhile, the work on the moods and phases continues. I'll warn you in advance, the final goal number in the "To do" list is going to be big and scary. I'm basically writing 5 short stories for each of the 28 renascents with this, only with broken syntax because of how the game works, so it's going to take a while. The numbers are going to continue to move slowly too for the sake of quality. It's not like I'm writing masterpieces at any rate but if I rushed myself many of the moods would be similar to each other and I'd probably end up regretting the final result. I know because I've rewritten and altogether changed some of them already.
The upside, of course, is that I love how I'm getting to know my own characters much better with all this. Turns out some of them are even more despicable than I though and a few of the seemingly boring ones turned out to be surprisingly more interesting than expected. Hopefully you'll feel the same when the time comes, whenever that might be.
The whole thing is going to take time and effort, but once it's finished I know I'll have something to feel proud of as long as I can avoid the temptation of trying to get things done quickly. We might still get new mechanics in the game in the meantime, but text-heavy things will be pushed for later.
