Insights

You will now be able to gain insights inside the game, allowing you to easily but expensively exchange resources and hopefully get out of some bottomless pits.

Insights are deeper understandings about the world that the player will gain in a few ways ways. First, by loosing in a cycle after playing in it for at least 70 weeks. Alternatively, exchanging either 17 Merits or 17000 Arkhe to gain an Insight through the "Abilities" menu accessible either when staying in your homebase or when visiting territories. And lastly, you'll be able to gain 3 Insights when you win a cycle after you already have 3 relics.

Once you gain an insight, you'll be able to spend it in the same Abilities menu to either gain 7000 Arkhe, 7 Merits, set the Local Tension to -700 or set your Weariness to -700.

While at it, I also allowed feyfolk to interact with these Insights in a few ways, such as asking for them as payment or granting them as rewards. There is also a chance that all these values will be tweaked after some more testing.


The ability to exchange resources in some way has actually been a long lasting request, but quite honestly, I was never a big fan of the idea. Nonetheless, I'm now glad it served as a primer for this new system. I can already think of several new potential fun things to do with these insights in the near future, but first I'll have to make sure they fit in well with the rest of the game.

The important thing is I'm gradually having more time for now and I'm in the mood for getting stuff done again.
