Unlockable Secret Events

It took some doing and undoing, but in the next version of Anamnesis you'll get to find rumours and hints about secret events in territories that might or might not be true in that particular game cycle.

Whenever you visit a territory, there will be a chance you might pick up hints or rumours about its secrets. These secrets can go from the mundane such as a chance to become famous and renowned for doing something or catching a criminal to the mystical and unearthly. In each case, they'll unlock a new event in that territory that might or might not be fully repeatable, but will usually have much more positive results than regular events or in turn unlock new secrets. When these events have limited uses, you'll be warned in advance so you don't waste them.

Each territory will have 4 new events. Most of these events will consist in these new secrets, although in some territories existing rare events will be transformed into secrets to unlock through other new events. The secrets are predefined, but a different number of them turn out to be real during each game cycle. All rumours in one territory might turn out to be right or false in some cycles, but statistically you'll probably get one or two in each. Most false rumours will probably not even show up, but when you are actually shown a hint or rumour, there is roughly a 50% chance that the event to which they refer can actually be unlocked by investigating the place, talking to people or getting an insider's job. Usually the hints will give you an idea as to what to do to try to unlock the secret.

Suppose you visit a territory and find out about rumours of a secret hidden treasure in a vault inside a building. You'll probably want to either talk with people working inside or better yet get a job yourself in there.

Some events will be better than others at unlocking these secrets, and there won't be pity timers to keep things balanced in this case, so you'll never quite know if you're wasting your time in a wild goose chase with your investigations or you're just one step away from leaving your life as a penniless outcast behind.
