Some people tend to brood over events in their life while others simply disregard them. There are even some people that instead take notes to add them as features to their games, so from now on some NPCs in Anamnesis will behave like little children and cause trouble when you break contact with them.
By NPCs I mean anything from units to other aristocrats and lovers. From now on when you break contact with an aristocrat, with a lover or when you discard a unit, they might sometimes feel slighted and cause an increase in Local Tension depending on a secret variable unique to each one of these NPCs.
The effects will tend to be greater when you're breaking contact with a relative aristocrat or a unit on partnership. The more you interact with a lover or aristocrat or the longer and better you treat a unit, the greater the effect on Local Tension could potentially become. Monster units or units on lease however will never cause these problems when they are discarded.
The penalty will be lenient except for those aristocrats that are your relatives. It could get ugly too however if you do something like dismissing a renascent or lover you've known from the beginning of a cycle by week 300 or something. If we're talking about a renascent lover, things can get even worse.
Of course, you can always just send those renascents to die in a hopeless battle or
order a relative aristocrat murdered with one of your units and save yourself the hassle.
