Every night, right before I go to bed, I update the "Working On" list and back up all my progress in a trusty flash drive I carry everywhere with me. This has been my daily routine for 4 years now and it has saved Anamnesis more than once. Still, I somehow found a way to lose a whole day's work while doing this.
I'm still pretty baffled and disappointed at myself, but I somehow managed to copy the flash drive version over the hard drive one, idly confirming the overwriting and destruction of about 5 hours of work in but a few seconds. The realization of what just happened struck me at that time along with this message:
But fortunately, I recovered most of the lost work by staying up late to make up for it.
Other than that, there is still not much to report on the development front for now.
I believe I'm not going to give away an initial random skill for players starting as adventurers or outcasts. Some are much more profitable than others and, since each territory is going to offer one to learn, they won't be hard to come about. I even have my doubts about allowing players to start as outcasts to begin with, so we'll see how that turns out.
I'm also going to continue the lore posts concerning the brief history of the cities and protectorates in a few days. I hope they aren't boring you too much, since I know it takes a special kind of person to read and enjoy a random game's background history, but I believe it's a knowledge that will help you to better understand and enjoy the game's world.
Ouch. I personally prefer allowing outcasts at the beginning though.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm leaning towards allowing them, but showing some sort of message explaining that starting as an outcast will be more unforgiving than the other settings. That way at least new players will get a general idea of what to expect.
