Civilian Casualties

In the next version, civilians will not only be exposed to the whims and ploys of units acting at discretion, but also to the perils of large scale confrontations and punitive expeditions.

Units creating large amounts of damage with artillery barrages, gas attacks and the like might create a small number of civilian casualties on the side that currently occupies the terrain they are fighting in.

Small attacks will almost never cause them, and the "Fight Cautiously" stance has been changed to "Avoid Civilian Casualties" in case you want to prevent such damage, although it won't grant any bonuses now.

Additionally, when punishing a population, colonists will also get killed or flee forever in terror.

The number of civilians you directly or indirectly killed or banished will also be recorded in your character screen so you can see how much of a monster you are.

    1. Well, they'll still be there waiting for you if you decide to fight more cautiously.

Or perhaps you'll even get to see them in the hands of enemies less cautious than yourself.
