Best and Worst Stats

Right now I'm prioritizing an illustration I'm submitting to a contest in order to probe my capacity to actually make at least some side money as an illustrator, so these last few days Anamnesis has been rather neglected. It's a long story but I've also reluctantly become a bunny owner, so there's also that.

Anyway, I went ahead and, as requested in the comments on the last post, slightly expanded character creation by allowing you to choose which stat of your character will tend to go up and which one will tend to go down. Your best stat will increase slightly more often and decrease slightly less often, your worst stat will do the opposite.

I decided to do things this way because a simple one time boost at the beginning of the game would probably become diluted a few turns into the game. You will be able to choose either one of the four basic stats, (Resistance, Mobility, Intelligence and Terror) or one of them at random.

For kicks, and a little added challenge, you will also be to choose to be good at no stat and be bad at all of them.

  1. Sounds fun. Maybe add some hidden benefits for the challenge mode?

Random suggestion: please add notice on whether it is day or night in the territory screens. I often have abilities usable in territories for both day/night, would be nice to know which it is on a glance.

    1. Maybe something can be done to make night and daylight turns clearer.

Meanwhile check the game's background illumination for a clue. Days are brighter and whiter while nights are slightly darker with an orange hue.

  2. Shiver me timbers, I think I encountered a bug! Do I get a cookie for reporting it?

I think the effects of the decisions the Fatty Ogres push are inverted. For example, they decrease Influences immigration or power of the lobby, while increasing, say, player wealth.

    1. Was there any message stating that the power of that lobby decreased by any amount after the vote? If not it might just be the usual cost for each proposal.

There were a few odd things in there that have been changed, but overall the allegiance of their meals is not the ogres' main concern, so it's not unusual for influenced population to end up in their bellies.

Thanks for reporting but unfortunately I don't have any cookies to give you. Perhaps you'd settle for bunny treats? They're pretty tasty.

    2. Yes, I've several times seen the ogre power decrease. For example, after them pushing a decision that lowers decadence instead of increasing it.

This is just a trick to turn me into a vorpal bunny, isn't it, for that sweet SR105 attack!

    3. I haven't been able to reproduce the bug so far, nonetheless I placed a few safeguards that should hopefully prevent stuff like that from happening in the future.

But why would I want to trick you into becoming a vorpal bunny anyway? I mean, who wouldn't want to have that kind of power and be cute and fluffy at the same time?

  3. If you flip on my backside on the floor and have a huge hissy fit, will the next version come to be sooner? I sure hope so!

    1. I guess it's worth a try. I've pretty much run out of ideas to get more free time and speed development up so I've been considering doing the same thing myself.

Let me know how it turns out.
