Previous savegames are not compatible.
This is kind of a boring release, there are no new features and only token new content, but it is also more than a bugfix.
I've been gathering feedback and trying to improve the interface, tweak the difficulty and minimize tedious stuff.
At the very least, I'm positive that the new large font is more readable, which seemed to be the main concern of many.
There are still a few issues with Ubuntu Linux versions that will take a while longer however, they will hopefully be addressed in an upcoming bugfix.
BugFix 1 Released: Fixed a pair of bugs concerning overworked units, they were either crashing the game or completing projects in one turn.
Change Log:
- Replaced the largest font with a more readable one.
- Duplicated terrains are now very rare, they will be rarer in the future once there is enough variety.
- Completely removed duplicated enemy renascents.
- Added a numerical display in the lower bars.
- Removed a few unnecessary clicks here and there.
- Arkhe collection now adjust to terrain reserves when extracting.
- The new background on the main dialogue screen should improve readability.
- Each unit's information can be reached more easily in the Forces menu.
- Retrieve Piece is now an independent action accessible from the main territory's screen.
- The player character starts a little stronger, has an excuse of a weapon, is more unlikely to lose stats, and more likely to gain them.
- 2 new units and 1 new terrain.
- Lowered unit and land purchase costs by a fifth or so.
- Several bugfixes, most prominently concerning sudden insta-endgames and wrongly displayed starting influenced renascents.
I just started playing this game and I'm addicted to it even if I don't understand anything about the setting. Cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you're enjoying it. I think I will be able to move into the new stuff now, so long as no more issues surface with this release.
DeleteI've just started this version, but I just wanted to drop in and say that I miss the old font for its atmosphere, but really like the readability of the new font, and that the numerical representations on the bars below make me feel so much better already. Before I couldn't see anything about the bars changing at all! Can't wait to experience the rest of the new content and tweaks.
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened to me, but this is definitively a change for the better.
DeleteBy the time I was finished testing it all looked normal again.
badass! way to go!
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteAm really enjoying this new version. Starting to understand the game better too!
ReplyDeleteHad one piece left to collect when an exception occurred.
The exception is actually to long to post here, so I'll drop it into a spoiler in the thread on the Dwarf Fortress forums... but where should bug reports and similar be made, here?
I'm looking into this.
DeleteI guess I'll have to set up something to make bug reporting and such more fluid after all. Some bugtracker of forum or something, I don't know, I'll think about it later.
And a second exception, with another traceback to long for this blog reply, also place into a spoiler on DF forum thread.
ReplyDeleteIf an unit with too much Weariness tries to do a project, it will net 0 input and therefore cause this crash.
DeleteIf that was your problem, it should be solved in the next bugfix.
A possible bug, one that does not happen every game for me, but has happened twice. In the first, a hired unit with very high resistance (~300) completed improving barricades normally, taking several weeks then suddenly became able to complete additional improve barracade upgrades after a single day.
ReplyDeleteThis unexpected 'repeat result' has occurred again, this time with my character. I finished the first improve barracades after around 50 weeks, and now am repeatedly improving them the week after starting each attempt. Additionally I attempted the other base improvement, the 3000 resistance one, and that one also completed the week after it was begun.
You sure have a way for finding obscure bugs, can't tell if that's a curse or a blessing.
DeleteI'll check where all the project input is leaking from.
